Online football manager · free · browser and app
Online Football Manager (OFM) is a free football management game that you can play online in your browser and as an app for iOS and Android. Since 10 March 2003, over 3.3 million managers have been running their own clubs here, developed and operated by OFM Studios GmbH in Cologne. You are the coach, manager, talent scout and builder all rolled into one, and every day is match day.
In Online Football Manager, you take charge of a small club and lead it to the top: from the lowest division all the way to the World Cup. The browser game runs without any downloads; all you need is a browser or the free app. Managing football online here means: you pick your starting eleven, choose your tactics, train your players, make moves in the transfer market, expand your stadium and look for sponsors that fit your budget.
Your opponents aren’t computers, but other managers who, just like you, work on their clubs every day. That’s why OFM has been the management game of choice for over 20 years for people who don’t just want to watch football, but want to understand it. Whether your club wins the league or is fighting relegation depends on your decisions, not on your wallet.
Trainer · Manager · Talent scout · Builder
You decide who plays, in which formation, and how aggressively your team goes into tackles. Offensive or defensive – it’s different for every opponent. The right line-up wins matches; the wrong one loses them. You also plan training sessions to keep your players fit.
You manage the budget throughout the season: wages, sponsors, ticket prices, transfers. As a football manager, you need to be good at maths; otherwise, the club will run out of money by winter. If you manage your finances wisely, you’ll have the money in the summer for the transfer that decides the league title.
You’ll find the players that others overlook: on the transfer market, in your own youth academy and through targeted training. Good talent scouts can spot which 18-year-old will dominate the league in two seasons’ time, and turn affordable prospects into the stars of tomorrow – or sell them at a profit.
You’ll expand your club’s grounds and transform a small stadium into a football temple with thousands of seats. More spectators at every home match mean more revenue, and every building around the stadium gives your club an advantage. The builder in you plans years ahead.
All four roles are interlinked: if you only train, you have no money. If you only build, you have no team. This makes OFM a management game in which football and business go hand in hand. Anyone who has both under control is a good football manager.
A match day every day
OFM runs in real time with the calendar: every day is a match day, and a season has 34 of them. You don’t need to spend hours on it. Five to ten minutes are enough, and your club will carry on playing even if you don’t log in for a while. All the rules are set out in the game rules.
Register, choose a server, take charge of a club: it takes a minute and costs nothing. You’ll start with a small squad, the welcome pack and a stadium with plenty of room for improvement. Tonight is your first match day.
Before every match, you select your starting eleven: formation, playing style, intensity in tackles, and substitutes. It’s worth reassessing which line-up works best against each opposing manager. In this browser game, there’s no single ‘best’ tactic – only the right one for that particular opponent.
You develop your players individually: depending on their age and position, a player needs different training sessions to develop. Keep an eye on their fitness, as matches and training drain energy. Players who take to the pitch whilst tired risk injury. Tournaments and training camps help your team get stronger faster.
On the transfer market, managers from all leagues on your server bid for players. You buy top players if your budget allows, or snap up young talents on the cheap, train them and sell them at a profit. It is this squad planning that sets a football manager apart from a spectator.
Over time, a village pitch turns into a stadium with thousands of spectators. Every upgrade costs money but generates revenue from home matches. On top of that, there are sponsors, ticket prices and salaries: your club must be in the black by the end of the season.
Overnight, all the matches on your server are simulated and calculated. In the morning, you’ll see the results, the league table and the match report, and the next matchday begins. As well as the league, you’ll play cup matches, friendlies and fun cups against other managers.
League · Cup · World Cup
You start in a lower league and work your way up season by season. These are the goals that make the daily training worthwhile in this management game.
Every season consists of 34 matchdays against the managers in your league. Those at the top are promoted; those at the bottom are relegated. It’s a long but achievable journey from the lowest division to the top flight.
Running alongside the league is the national cup: a competition in which even a small club can knock a big one out of the tournament. A cup final is the quickest route to a trophy that your club can display in its trophy cabinet.
The biggest event in OFM: the 128 best teams from every country compete against one another. Qualifying teams include the champions, runners-up and the two cup finalists from each country. Whoever wins here takes home the Cup of Cups.
You can display every title, every certificate and every trophy in your trophy cabinet, which comes in various designs and offers endless space. It is your club’s memory, and it’s waiting for you to fill it.
Several times a year, there are events where you can compete against all the other managers or take part as a team, such as the Weekend League or Scoutissimo. These events offer prizes that aren’t available elsewhere.
Dates and rules for events are published in good time in the Manager News and on the forum.

Five to ten minutes is enough: check the line-up, set the training programme, and browse offers on the transfer market. Your club will still play even if you take a day off. Anyone wanting to delve deeper will find plenty to keep them occupied for hours when it comes to tactics, finances and squad planning.
Help and RulesBoth, with a single account. You can set your line-up in the OFM app for iOS or Android in the morning and browse the transfer market at your leisure in your PC’s browser in the evening. Your match day carries on no matter where you log in. You can play football online in this browser game without any downloads or plug-ins.
The free OFM appNo. Sporting success depends on your decisions: line-up, training, transfers, finances. The Plus Package and Kixx unlock convenience and time-saving features, such as overviews and automations, but they do not provide better players or titles. What a manager with the Plus Package can do, one without it can do too.
No, you need free access using your email address. The reason: your club carries on playing every day, even when you’re not online, and for that to happen, it has to belong to you. Signing up takes a minute; there’s no subscription and no payment details required.
No, and that’s intentional. OFM isn’t a Bundesliga manager game where you buy real professionals from a licensed list. Every club, every player and every league in OFM is part of its own football world, which has been growing since 2003. Nobody knows your talents yet, and your rival is the manager from the neighbouring league.
Yes. You can play friendly matches against friends, organise your own fun cup tournaments or face off against each other in the same league. In community events such as the Weekend League, you compete against all the managers on your server. You can meet the community every day on the forum and on Discord.
OFM has been developed and operated by OFM Studios GmbH in Cologne since 2003. Over 3.3 million managers have registered with OnlineFussballManager since then. The game is rated for all ages (USK 0). Questions and requests go directly to the team: via the forum or by support ticket.
